Almost Did Mt. Marcy

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

I took last Thursday and Friday off to climb Mt Marcy with a friend. We got off to a late start because we traveled from Rochester, NY to Keene, NY through the night because the weather called for rain on Friday. With Thursday being the only day to make this work, we didn’t even get on the trail until after noon. Luckily we found out that the trail split to the summit of Mt Marcy or Mt Phelps three or four miles in. Since we had pretty much no chance of reaching the top of Mt Marcy and getting back before dark we took the path to Mt Phelps. The last mile was a killer, but we did it! The last couple of miles on the way back was in the dark however. Next time it will be Mt Marcy – for real!

One thing that I really do like about Sears is that they give you license to do whatever you want with the pictures, unlike most of the other places we have been to. And you can buy a CD the same day with your images on it, when we go elsewhere we wind up scanning them in just to have a digital copy.

Honda Radio Code

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Saturday my AVIC-N1 nav/mp3/cd/radio system crapped out on me.. and I think that it may be gone for good. That sucks.. a lot, since it was pretty expensive (5 years ago).. what sucks more is that we are pretty broke right now, and it doesn’t look like that will be changing any time soon.. which means no new radio any time soon either. My commute to Syracuse is 1.5 hours on a good day, and 1.5 hours each way with no radio will be pretty darn unbearable. SO, I dug out my stock radio that shipped with my civic and that has been collecting dust in the basement for the past few years and hooked it up. I’m posting this here in case anyone else ever needs it, or I manage to forget the next time I need it - To get your Honda radio code you can go to: https://radio-navicode.honda.com and enter the radio’s serial number and owner’s details.

New Site!

I am in the process of converting my old site to WordPress!

July!!

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Welp, its july already.. and several months since my last post!

OK, here is the short version -

SAWYER: Five months old already and growing fast! He is a BIG baby, already wearing cloths for 9-12 month olds! He likes to play now and can roll over by himself! Kim also put up a great video of him laughing and eating at myspace!

FERRETS: Sad to say, we could no longer find the time needed to provide Molly and Buddy with the attention that they need and deserve. I hope that the good folks over at Lollypop Farm are able to find a nice family to spend their remaining years with. They will be missed!

OTHER: In late 2005 I was a member of Userbars.com, at that time I was impressed with all the creativity that userbar artists put into those little graphics and decided to help out the community by developing The Userbar Animator and The Userbar Designer. The then-owner of userbars.com provided a big push to help out my site by encouraging users to animate their userbars with The Userbar Animator and my little site thrived! In December of 2006 however userbars.com was shut down. The Userbar Animator still did well surviving on traffic from search engines and other partnerships developed in the mean time. BUT as of Jun 26 userbars.com is back up under new ownership, ME! So if you are a userbar enthusiast come back home to userbars.com and see whats new!!

April 2007

Only one month since my last post!?

Yesterday marks Sawyer’s 10th week. He seems like he is on the verge of his first laugh.. he gets very smiley when you play with him, but no sound yet. I had always thought that people were born knowing how to laugh.. but apparently its something you have to figure out on your own! One thing that he does do that is kind of surprising is walk! Well, not real walking.. but if he is held up, he puts one foot in front of the other like if he was strong enough he could just walk away!

It is Geocaching season again! But I haven’t had a whole lot of time to go.. the only thing that Sawyer likes eating more than formula is time! I think that in a couple years he might really enjoy going out in the woods and geocaching with his old-man.

Last weekend I received the Wii that I purchased on Ebay! I remember being a little bitter that the guy shipped it one day later than he said he would in the listing.. which now that I have the Wii in my hands, doesn’t seem to matter very much. I also bought Wii Play, Rayman and Super Paper Mario. These days there is hardly any time to play with my toys, but so far Wii Play doesn’t excite me all that much.. so I will consider it a $10 game that came with an additional Wiimote. I have yet to get past the the intro story in Super Paper Mario. Rayman is probably the most fun game that I’ve purchased so far, but I think that I probably enjoy the Wii Sports games that shipped with the Wii itself the most out of the 4 games I have. I think i just really like the ones that really let you use the Wiimote.

Here is my “Thought Of The Month” for April: Being a grown up doesn’t suck as bad as it sounds. I mean, if 5 years ago someone told me that when I am 30 I would be a married guy with a kid, only leave the house (for fun stuff) like two or three times a month, would rather buy a game system with cartoony games instead of a system with ultra violent GTA type games and have to blow off friends to babysit… I would try to do everything in my power to prevent that future from happening! But now that I’m here it totally feels like the correct place to be and I wouldn’t change anything!

Night time seems longer when you are awake.

Man, having a baby makes you a very busy person! Sawyer is a month old now and is totally getting noticeably bigger! I think he stays awake a little longer now and seems to be more aware of whats happening around him.. which is pretty exciting. Kim has noticed that he is smiling more too, so thats cool.

Yesterday I went on a work field trip to NYC. Here is a picture of the building we visited, someday rich people will live here:

I’ve also been playing around with the Rubik’s Cube, since Kim bought me a new one after my other one was lost. I’ve always had one around, but never learned how to solve it. I used some memory tricks by Michael Tipper to memorize this solution.. which really works! Right now it takes me like 4 minutes.. I’ve sped it up a little by using a different ending and beginning.. but getting the last layer into position is still too repetitive, so I’m going to hunt around and try to find a better way.

Happy Groundhog Day!

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

Almost our son’s birthday! February 9th is the due date.. but really it could happen any day now I guess. At the last checkup the doctor thought he seemed a little on the big side, so we got another ultrasound. This time the ultrasound tech was able to do a few 3d images.. check them out:

My wife seems to think that he has my nose.. we’ll get a better look when he comes out though.

Kim also bought me the Burning Crusades expansion for World of Warcraft. I had not played this game in some time.. but the new expansion made me want to level up my character. So tonight I leveled for the first time in like 3 months to 57.. I think that I’ll still need to get up to 58 before I can enjoy any of the new expansion stuff.

Nothing. Really.

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Ok, this is my January 2007 post. Happy new year!

Nothing all that exciting going on lately.. so i’ll just post what is on my mind RIGHT THIS SECOND: Where the hell is my Rubik’s Cube!?!? It was totally right here on my desk last time i saw it.. or maybe over on the book shelf. But its gone now! I really don’t want to have to buy another one.

We are down to the final couple weeks before the baby is born, so just waiting patiently. I’m sure i’ll have a lot more to post here once he arrives!
